Brett’s vision for Sheer Balance started when she realized that many
of her friends and colleagues constantly struggled with finding balance
in their every day hectic lives. They often didn’t have the time to
dedicate to cooking and eating healthy, exercising, or taking time out
for themselves. Further, she realized that many of these women were
frustrated by the overwhelming amount of information that was
contradicting, unclear and misleading when it came to healthy living. As
a result, Brett saw a need to provide women with the right tools and
information to make living healthy easy and fun. To do so, Brett
combined her 12+ year background in management consulting, where she led
training strategy and development projects for Fortune 100 companies,
and her passion for wellness, to ultimately start Sheer Balance.
Brett has been in the wellness industry for over 15 years. Her
passion for health and wellness began at the age of 17 as a freshman at
Cornell University, where she quickly realized that exercise and good
nutrition were vital to releasing stress and maintaining balance. Brett
became certified as a group fitness instructor through AFAA (Aerobics
and Fitness Association of America), and went on to teach for Cornell
University, Gold’s Gym and Bally’s Total Fitness in New York. She taught
all types of fitness classes and especially enjoyed helping her
students understand fundamentals of nutrition, fitness and overall
wellness.
Today, Brett consults to the lifestyle, spa and wellness industry in
areas of strategic planning, brand strategy, experiential design and
concept development. Brett regularly speaks to the spa, wellness and
hospitality industries, as well as to consumers on topics of health and
wellness. Brett writes for several online media companies, and has been
featured on popular sites including: Yahoo!, Shine from Yahoo!, Divine
Caroline, Intent and Gather. In 2008, Shine from Yahoo! named Brett
“Woman of the Year” for her influential blogging and in 2009, Divine
Caroline awarded Sheer Balance with their “Love this Site!” award within
the Body and Soul Category.
Brett received her Bachelors and MBA from Cornell University.
